For the launching of digital TV broadcasting, a new digital platform is being set up while broadcasting legislation is being amended to permit the licensing of a general interest objective network operator and general interest broadcasting content licensees. Act No VIII of 2011 has been passed through Parliamet on 6th June 2011.

On 4th June 2010 the Audiovisual Media Services Directive of the European Union was implemented in the Broadcasting Act, Cap. 350 and in various subsidiary legislation through Act IV of 2010 and Legal Notices 320 - 326. To facilitate review a Legal Gap Analysis was made by the Broadcasting Authority and is being made available for download and review. These amendments came info effect as from 1st June and the amendments involve:

- S.L. 350.04 - Broadcasting (Jurisdiction and European Co-operation) (Amendment) Regulations, 2010
- S.L. 350.05 - Broadcasting Code for the Protection of Minors, 2010
- S.L. 350.12 - Broadcasting Authority (Enforcement Posers) (Amendment) Regulations, 2010
- S.L. 350.28 - Broadcasting (Short News Reporting) (Amendment) Regulations, 2010
